Game Changer FC will make personal history when they participate in the First Round of the Sheffield & District Fair Play Challenge Cup this weekend in what will be their first ever competitive fixture when they travel to King’s Athletic.
After participating in many friendlies since their formation last November, the Oranges, successfully, entered the Sheffield & District Fair Play League, and Flourish League, respectively. Regardless of the result, it will be an historic moment for the club who have come a long way from a side who started off playing 5-a-side football.
They face King’s Athletic, who they will also face in the Third Division of the Fair Play League. The Oranges host Athletic on 18th November before returning to the Steel City on 24th February. The Sheffield side begin their 23rd consecutive season in the Sheffield & District Fair Play League, having began in the 2001-02 campaign. During this time, they have competed on 11 occasions in Division One.
The Athletic side were formerly known as Arbourthorne Community Church from 2006-2010, having previously being known as Kings Centre FC. They have won the Challenge Cup twice consecutively in 2006, and 2007. Last season, Athletic finished seventh in Division Three.
