Game Changer FC will be in double action this weekend as they continue their Sheffield & District Fair Play League campaign with an away trip to Sheffield Trinity, whilst they will also complete in the First Round of the Flourish League Cup at Rotherham United Community Sport Trust on the Sunday.
Sheffield Trinity was formed in 2008 and participated the 2022-23 season in the Sheffield & District Fair Play League (Division Three), regularly play their home games at Westfield School in the S20 region of the Steel City. They had a miserable league campaign last season, ending the campaign with ten consecutive defeats, and finished the campaign 7th in the league (out of 8 teams). They accomplished seven points, winning twice throughout the season, both at home, against Zion New Boys (5-3 on 1st October), and 3-2 against bottom of the table, Yorkshire Wanderers (4th February).
The two sides had initially initiated a friendly fixture on 24th June, however, Trinity, were unable to fulfil the fixture due to injuries. The Oranges faced Mosborough Yellows instead, losing 8-3 at Barnsley Academy.
Like Game Ganger, the Steel City side have made heavy weather of the early stages of the 2023-24 season. They were eliminated from the Challenge Cup (Round 1), at home to Stocksbridge Park Steels Development, losing 3-2, and began the opening day of the Fair Play season, losing 5-4 at Dronfield last Saturday at Olive Grove.
However, Oranges coach, Jamie Moore, will carefully select his sixteen players to face Trinity, with the S70 club beginning their cup challenge the following day in the Flourish League Cup – First Round, where they have been drawn away to Rotherham United Community Sport Trust.
Second Division Millers will prove a tough test for the Game Changer side, who will complete in Division Three when the league begins next weekend against Hillsborough.
